Lack of unified processes to create data products with increasing volumes of data

Minimization of design efforts for Unified Information Platforms and costs

INITIAL SITUATION

Worldwide COVID-19 pandemic changed IT world globally. Typically offline businesses had to adapt to these changes as quickly as possible – contactless delivery of all kinds of goods, digital processes to avoid face-to-face contacts, drastically increased digital payments, telehealth services, distance learning, etc.
Organizations invested into their data driven culture and data governance to cope with the increased volumes of data.

The key obstacles for building scalable and reliable data products we observed are:

  • Lack of proper data governance – the architecture may be scattered across several business and IT departments, a lot of local “DWH”s are created independently with different ideas in mind.
  • Lack of unified processes to create data products – different teams making their changes on top of the other teams’ changes; staging through environments and production releases are not well-organized.
  • Lack of right IT tools used at the right places of processes – manual integration of changes, lack of QA automation, etc.

SOLUTION

We offer our customers “building blocks” as a set of concepts to help them design a Unified Information Platform, to cope with typical issues with their current implementation of the platform or to unify scattered data products into one platform.

The solution includes but is not limited to:

  • Scalable multi-team, multi-release development concept – how to build a sustainable and scalable development process for multiple teams working on different data products as part of Unified Information Platform;

  • Logical environments concept – how to organize and use environments for data product development, tests and production;

  • Environment-specific parameter configuration concept – how to manage data product parameters through the whole data product lifecycle from development to production.

Our concepts allow customers to minimize their design efforts for Unified Information Platforms, allow to plan the platform infrastructure ahead and minimize its costs. As a result, the platform built upon these concepts will help to make data-products fast and reliable.

BUSINESS VALUE

Our solution will allow customers to tackle these obstacles and build a great foundation for current and future data products, reduce time-to-market, mitigate technical risks and align the organization around Unified Information Platform.
